Instead of limiting diagnosis to the engine ECU, the MT V6 can communicate with supported electronic systems across the motorcycle, retrieve module information, read and clear trouble codes, display live data, run actuation tests and perform supported service procedures.
On supported Harley-Davidson motorcycles, MT V6 can access electronic control modules throughout the bike. Typical supported systems include engine/ECM, ABS, instrument cluster and vehicle-speed functions, left/right handlebar switches, electronic suspension, traction control, exhaust-valve systems and other supported chassis/body modules.
Bi-directional testing, also called actuation or active testing, allows the scanner to send commands to supported motorcycle components and subsystems. This helps determine whether a component is responding before unnecessary disassembly or parts replacement. Depending on the motorcycle, supported tests may include pumps, valves, relays, actuators, switches and other module-controlled components.
Not every Harley-Davidson model supports all five functions. Availability is vehicle- and ECU-dependent.
Depending on the motorcycle, MT V6 can identify supported vehicle information automatically, use available VIN information, or allow manual selection by model and year. Manual selection remains available when automatic identification is unavailable.
OBDII functions are available only where supported by the motorcycle and applicable emissions protocol.
MT V6 includes a battery-voltage test through the diagnostic connection, a built-in DTC lookup library, review of stored diagnostic information, and a print-data function that can transfer recorded information to a Windows PC for supported printing and customized reports.
The MT V6 includes lifetime free software updates. Updates are installed through a Windows PC using the supplied data cable and update software.
