The Vehicle Communication Module (VCM) communicates with all Ford vehicles via the 16-pin diagnostic link. This single device will be used by all Ford diagnostic software and is the core of the modular strategy. A VCM license provides access to all diagnostic software that uses the VCM. The VCM must be used in conjunction with a PC based computer with the following minimum specifications: OS Windows XP Professional SP2 (Windows Vista & XP Tablet OS is not supported), Memory 512Mbytes required for XP; 1.0 Gigabyte required for Vista when approved), USB 2.0 ports (2 ports required for IDS), Serial Port Sub D-9 pin connector is required for MD Truck DVD DVD-ROMDrive High Speed Internet Connectivity is Required. Kit includes: module, 16 pin DLC short cable, 16 pin DLC long cable, IDS 4mm PC Ethernet-USB Host cable, and VCM DVD.
